20th Century Fox Cinemas/IMAX

Background: 20th Century Fox Cinemas/IMAX was a company acquired by 20th Century Fox Cinemas in 1987.

1st Logo: (April 9, 1987-June 20, 1993)

Logo: We see the word "IMAX" in gold on a black BG. Then we zoom into the "I" in "IMAX". All of the gold from the "I" soon fills the background. The 20th Century Fox logo of the era fades in. "FEATURE PRESENTATION" fades in on top of the logo.

FX: Zooming into the "I" in "IMAX", the 20th Century Fox logo of the era fading in, "FEATURE PRESENTATION" fading in on top of the logo.

Music/Sounds: A soothing synth tune. There is a slow and deep whoosh as we zoom into the "I".

Availabilty: Extinct, seen on IMAX movies released by 20th Century Fox during this period.

Scare Factor: None to minimal, the whoosh might unnerve someone, but it's mainly harmless.

2nd Logo: (June 21, 1993-March 14, 2002)

Logo: We see a space background. The phrase "AMERICA'S LARGEST SCREENS" appears and then disappears. Then "THE GREATEST CINEMA EXPIRIENCE EVER" appears and then disappears. Finally, the 20th Century Fox logo of the era in a box fades in. "THE IMAX EXPIRIENCE" places itself below the logo in the box.

Variants:
  • June 21, 1993-July 14, 1994: The 1981 movie logo is used at the end.
  • July 15, 1994-March 14, 2002: The 1994 movie logo is used at the end.
FX: The text appearing and disappearing, The logo in a box appearing, and "THE IMAX EXPIRIENCE" placing itself below the logo in the box.

Music/Sounds: A futuristic rock tune.

Music/Sounds Variants:
  • July 15, 1994-July 31, 1997: The last 4 notes of the 1994 Fox fanfare play at the end and the News Corporation byline is added to the logo.
  • August 1, 1997-March 14, 2002: The last 4 notes of the 1997 Fox fanfare play at the end.
Availability: Same as the last logo.

Scare Factor: None.

3rd Logo: (March 15, 2002-May 21, 2007)

Nicknames: "CGI IMAX Filmstrips"

Logo: We ride on a bunch of filmstrips that have the IMAX logo on it (a la the Regal roller coaster) with a background of famous TCF movies. Soon we come off the filmstrips and zoom into the 20th Century Fox logo of the era with the News Corporation byline and another byline below the News Corporation byline that reads "A SUBSIDIARY OF 20TH CENTURY FOX CINEMAS". "FEATURE PRESENTATION" places itself on top of the logo.

Later Variant: In 2004, the logo was given an enhanced look.

FX: Riding through the filmstrips, the famous TCF movies playing in the background, zooming into the 20th Cnetury Fox logo of the era, and "FEATURE PRESENTATION" placing itself on top of the logo.

Music/Sounds: A majestic fanfare (a la the MGM/UA Home Video 1993 logo) with the last 4 notes of the 1997 Fox fanfare at the end.

Availability: Same as the 1st and 2nd logos.

Scare Factor: Same as the last logo.

Final Note: In May 21, 2007, Regal Entertainment Group bought out this company and 20th Century Fox Cinemas so now these theaters now show the Regal roller coaster.
