DarkGlobe Pictures

Background: DarkGlobe Pictures is a film production company founded in 1980. It's currently a film division of the company DarkGlobe Corporation.

1st Logo

Logo: On a black background, the letters "DARKGLOBE" zooms letter-by-letter as the camera pans to the right. After the camera goes to a normal position, "PICTURES" in white fades in. A drawing of the Earth also fades in behind the text.

Variant: A still version exists.

FX/SFX/Cheesy Factor: Choppy 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: Hitting sounds when the letters stop zooming. None for the still variant.

Availability: Seen on early DarkGlobe movies.

Scare Factor: Medium. The zooming of the letters along with the blasting sounds and black background can give a lot of scares. None for the still variant.

2nd Logo

Logo: On a black background there's a drawing of the Earth (not like the one used in the previous logo) with the word "DarkGlobe" next to it. Under the word there's a small bar with "p i c t u r e s" inside.

  • On 1993 releases the logo is smaller.
  • There's an animated version of the logo, in which the Earth zooms out and then stops. Then "DarkGlobe" and the bar fades in.
  • Late releases have the logo blue.
FX/SFX: None. On the animated version, the Earth zooming out and the words/bar fading in.

Music/Sounds: None, or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: The normal version is much common and it's seen on many movies like Morning Dance. The animated version was only seen on Hunters, A Long Drive, and Dark Machine II.

Scare Factor: None.

3rd Logo

Nickname(s): "Blue Earth I"

Logo: We see a blue town with small houses, hills, and parks. The camera pans to the left and then zooms away so we can see a blue version of the Earth on a blue starfield, spinning. The "DarkGlobe" text and bar from the previous logo (the bar is now blue) are seen next to it. A blue glow then appears behind the Earth.

  • There's a trailer version of the logo which starts with the blue glow appearing.
  • Sometimes the website "www.darkglobepictures.com" appears below.

FX/SFX: Good late 90's CGI.

Music/Sounds: A remix of the 1996 Tyne Tees Television Channel 3 North East fanfare.

Availability: On 1997-2008 movies by DarkGlobe. Some examples are Dark Machine III and The Life Of Joe.

Scare Factor: Minimal. The music is too loud.

4th Logo

Nickname(s): "Blue Earth II"

Logo: On a red cloudy background, we see the sun. Out of it there are the crystal word "DarkGlobe" and the Earth coming out. The camera goes to the right and the words and Earth settle, forming the logo. The words turns metallic and the word "p i c t u r e s" fades in below. The Earth then turns blue.

Variant: There's a short version of the logo seen on trailers and TV spots, which starts with the Earth turning blue.

FX/SFX: CGI animation.
