Fantastik Films

Background: In 1988, Columbia Pictures and Trimark Pictures had a joint venture, and in 1991 when Sony already bought Columbia and Tristar, Trimark was out of the business, and Fantastik (stylized as FANTASTiK) Pictures was the company of Sony Pictures, which distributed internationally and produced A, B and C movies.

1st Logo
(1988-1993)

Logo: On a black background, we see a blue square, with half of it filled. The empty part has FANTA, and the filled one has STiK written in it in Times New Roman.

  • There is a variation where the square is bigger.
  • There is a variation when the square slightly shimmers.

(1993-2002)

Logo: On a cloudy background similar to the Columbia logo one, we see a black box drawing in, and half of it fills. Then FANTA fades into the empty part, and STiK fades into the filled part, respectively.

FX/SFX: Simple animation.

Music/Sounds: An orchestral fanfare.

Music/Sounds Variants:
  • On a Hungarian airing of "Odious", the 1993 Columbia theme plays.

3rd Logo
(2002-)

Logo: On a gray cloud background, we see a transparent, long rectangle-like cube spinning, with some kind of gray dust in it. A light shimmers around the cube, and then the cube stops at an angle, and left half of the cube fills in with white, while the right one with black. The dust forms FANTASTiK, into the cube. The byline fades in, and shimmers. In 2007, the logo was enhanced, and the lighting slightly changed. As of 2014, the Sony logo transitions into this.

FX/SFX: Beautiful CGI!

Music/Sounds: A quiet whooshing as the cube spins and a low guitar note plays. Then when the dust forms, a loud whoosh is heard, and a reverse violin note is heard.
