Gem Software

Background: Gem Software was founded in 1982. It originally made games for the Commodore 64 but expanded more and more overtime.

1st Logo
(1982-1989)

Logo: We a red and white background with pixels forming the text "GEM SOFTWARE". The words then glow and fade out. Then we cut to the word "GEM" glowing along with "SOFTWARE" below it. After staying on screen 5 seconds, the words glow and fade out.

FX/SFX: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: An 8-bit tune.

Availability: Extinct.

2nd Logo
(1989-2004)

Nicknames: "Red Gem"

Logo: On a black background, we see a laser drawing the word "GEM" in red. The word then glows and zooms out. Stars can then be seen falling down. The starsthen flips over to reveal the word "GEM SOFTWARE" and a laser then draws a line in between the text. The words then glow.

FX/SFX: All the 2D animation, which is good for the time.

Music/Sounds: A groovy 16-bit tune.

3rd Logo
(2004-2012)

Logo: On a blue fog background, we see many blue cubes flying around. Blue lasers then emerge in the cubes, making the words "GEM SOFTWARE". The words then fade out and then we see a computer zooming to the screen. We then exit the computer. Then we see a sky background with the Gem Software title.

FX/SFX: Breathtaking CGI.

Music/Sounds: A short synth fanfare.
