Background: Karnaaj was a Canadian television network formed in 1989. It acquired the educational network Time to Shine Network two years prior. Karnaaj originally aired independent films under the Indie Network moniker, but switched its format to appeal to the teen/young adult demographic, airing subbed/dubbed anime, foreign cartoons, short films from the Spike & Mike Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation, acquired American programs and repeats of classic television. The network shut down in 2014.

1st Logo

Logo: We see the letter "K", looking like it was scratched in (think of the WWE logo) on a brown square against a set of clouds. The background waves like a flag and then it moves to the top right corner of the screen.

FX/SFX: The movement of the background.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extinct.

Scare Factor: None.
2nd Logo

Logo: On a black background, we see a rapidly growing flame engulf the screen. The flame clears and we see the previous logo on a square plate (with charred markings and scratches).

FX/SFX: The flames.

Music/Sounds: A dramatic flourish, ending with a loud clang.

Availability: Extinct. This was only used during their first two years on the air. It was phased out when the network operated under the "alternative television" brand.

Scare Factor: High.
3rd Logo

Logo: We see purple and orange flames, and then finally, the flames forming the network logo.

Variants: In 2000, there were custom variants, where in the middle of the usual animation, a morbid or somewhat haunting scene plays, and then the logo appears. These included a sustained shot of a rowboat which ended with a jumpscare and a man playing hangman, only to get hanged for real. In 2004, comedic versions of these variants turned up.

FX/SFX: The flames

Music/Sounds:A waving synth and fire sound effects, then a explosion sound and, lastly, either two synth notes (which uses a guitar layering on the synth music) or a different sound effect (It is used on many shows to indicate tensions).

Availability: Extinct. This turned up on some of the network's original programs at the time, them being Nerds on the Watch, A Study on Metamorphosis, Basement Tracks and the network's weekly news show, none of which are currently on the air.

Scare Factor: Medium to high.
3rd Logo

Logo: We pan through a canyon and as we come to the end of it, we see the channel logo on a pedestal. Everything disappears in a flash.

FX/SFX: The panning and the flash.

Music/Sounds: An eerie whoosh, followed by a dramatic choir, ending with another whoosh noise. This was redone in 2008.

Availability: Extinct.

Scare Factor: Low to medium.
