King And Queen Theatres

Background: On February 1952, two couples, Maxwell King (b. 1923-d. 2006) and Sandra "Queen" Ferrah (b. 1928-), had founded the cinema-chain company in Seattle, Washington, United States, known as King and Queen Theatres. This company is currently owned by K&Q Across America, Inc. as of 2012.

1st opening
(late 1950s-1970s)

TBA

2nd opening
(1975-1986)

Nicknames: "The King of Movie Theatre Jingles", "A Trip to the Movies with Meteors", "Meteors"

Logo: On the black background, we see the meteors coming down to the screen and the words, "King" in a red Baveuse font, appear on one meteor, "and" in a red Baveuse font appears on the other meteor, "Queen" appears on the third meteor, also on a red Baveuse font, and "Theatres" appears on the last meteor once again on a red Baveuse font. Then the RC Cola cup with the words, "Feature Presentation" falls to the bottom of the screen.

FX/SFX: Traditionally animated meteors falling from above with the live-action cup of the RC Cola appearing. Nice animation for that time.

Music: The 35-second jingle of "King & Queen," which is similar to "Asteroid" composed by Pete Moore.

Availability: Extinct. Could be seen in any King and Queen Theatre at that time.

Scare Factor: Low. The 35-second jingle may surprise some, but nevertheless, it's a harmless, and a memorable logo.

3rd opening
(1986-1995)

Nicknames: "Meteors II", "Pepsi/Coca-Cola Meteors", "CG Meteors"

Logo: On a black background, we see a film reel falling with the meteors with the words, "King & Queen" in a red Baveuse font appearing on the screen and a 1980s-1998 Pepsi cup falling with the meteors. Then, they disappear and the words, "Enjoy the movie" appears on the screen.

Variant: A Coca-Cola version of it exists as well, replacing the Pepsi cup with the Coca-Cola cup.

FX/SFX: The CG animation for the meteors and the live-action soda cup appears once again.

Music: Same as the 2nd opening.

Availability: Could be seen in many King and Queen theatres from 1986-1995.

Scare Factor: None.

4th opening
(1995-2000)

Nicknames: "Meteors III", "CG Meteors II"

Logo: On a blue background, we see CG meteors falling to our screen with the words, "Entertainment at its best" at the right meteor and "King and Queen Theatres" at the left meteor.
