Marble Productions (Japan)

Background: Marble Productions was a home video company formed in 1982. The company did release a few anime VHSs, Laserdiscs, DVDs and Blurays.

1st Logo

Nicknames: "Marble Productions in Space I"

We see stars in a black background. After 5 seconds, lasers come in from the center and zoom from the upper and lower sides of the screen. On the center, the words "マーブルプロダクションズ" fade in. The words then zoom in, and a bright flash happens behind, forming a circle with the same Japanese words on it. Below the circle we see the company's name translated in English.

Variant: An updated 3D version of the logo was made in 1988.

FX/SFX: 2D animation that is not very bad for 1982. The 3D effects were added on the variant.

Music/Sounds: Beeping sounds at the start, followed by whooshes when the lasers appears, then a rising sound, and finnaly an synthenized fanfare.

Availability: Very rare. The updated version was used until 1997 and is more common than the original, however.

Scare Factor:
Low to medium. The text zooming in along with the flash may scare first-time viewers.

2nd Logo

Nicknames: "Making Japan", "Japanese Marbles"

Logo: We see a black screen, then many blue marbles appear and the camera pans to reveal a purple light. The marbles get close to it and form the outlined Japan drawing. The company's name, now just in Japanese, fades in.

FX/SFX: The marbles forming Japan.

Music/Sounds: Some whooshes and an "air" sound.

Availability: Rare. Seen on a few Japanese anime video releases. Most of them can be also bought on international stores.

Scare Factor: Low.
