Pear Tree Games (Denmark)

Logo descriptions by SnowflakesOmega

Background: Pear Tree Games was a video game distributor based on Copenhagen and operated on all regions of Scandinavia. The company's famous for distributing mostly PC titles, including RPGs and shooters.

1st Logo
(2001-2005)

Nickname: "The Smiling Pear I"

Logo: We see a red square with a yellow border. Inside there's a pear with a smiling face, and the words "pear tree games" in yellow below.

Variants:

  • The logo might be seen on a white, black, or dark blue background.
  • At least one game had the logo in black and white.
FX/SFX: None.

Cheesy Factor: There isn't even a tree in the logo.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Currently rare on Scandinavia. Can be seen on RPGs like Beyond The Quest I and II, Vintage Warriors and Rain of the Souls III, shooters like Unit Combination, and a few children games. Most of the titles were for PC, but a few were also made on PS2 and XBOX.

Scare Factor: None. It's too cute to be frightening. But it may be found as annoying for those who were seeing it before playing a mature game.

2nd Logo
(2002-2004)

Nicknames: "The Smiling Pear II", "Now With More Pears!", "The Pear Tree", "The Bunch of Smiling Pears"

Logo: On a yellow field with the backdrop of mountains and a sunny sky, we see a farmer and a pear. The farmer digs the pear with a shovel and waits a bit. Suddenly a tree grows at the left of the farmer and the farmer watches. Then the farmer hits the tree with a shovel, and various pears fall on the farmer, causing him to not be visible. All of those pears have smiley faces, like the one from the previous logo. Then the one pear from before comes out from the top of the pears. The camera zooms to the pear, as everything else fades out, and the red/yellow square grows behind the pear, with the text inside. The square then bounces to get out of view.

FX/SFX: Plain 2D animation, matching for the era.

Music/Sounds: Various sounds that match the action (digging sounds, deep synths, boing sounds, and happy kid voices).

Availability: Seen on PC, PS2 and XBOX games produced in Europe and distributed all over Scandinavia like Unit Combination II: The Rework, A Sudden Change of Brightness, Ship Chaser, and Continuous Bullet.

Scare Factor: None. This logo is as cute as before, but again, seeing it appears on some mature games, it also would get annoying for other people.
