Syndrome Entertainment

Background: Syndrome Entertainment was a home media company formed by Frank Novice in 1984. The company was best known for distributing dubbed martial arts and kung-fu movies, and later dubbed anime. Aside from dubbing, the company also distributed monster movies and re-relased out of print media. The company merged with Bellhouse Productions in 1991, but it continued to exist until 2006.

1st Logo
(1985)

Logo: On a blue background, we see the white word "SYNDROME" in an elongated font.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: A synth jingle that carries on to the warning screen.

Availability: Extremely rare. Was seen on at least one movie the company released.

Scare Factor: None.
2nd Logo
(1985-2006)

Logo: On a black/red gradient background, we see the text from before zoom forward and stop midway. The red part of the background begins to shimmer.

FX/SFX: The shimmering.

Music/Sounds: A synthesized theme that builds up as the logo progresses.

Availability: A bit easier to find than the previous logo. Appears on dubs of Eightman, Astro Boy, Marine Boy and Kimba the White Lion and prints of horror movies like Zombi 2 and Nightmare.

Scare Factor: None to minimal.

3rd Logo
(2001-2002)

Logo: On a background containing blurred images of rotating propellers, a white paint streak appears and the company texts appears on it, becoming red. "entertainment" appears below the logo.

FX/SFX: The logo forming.

Music/Sounds: A rock theme.

Availability: Rare, it only appeared on two releases, them being the animated film Sonic Adventure: Chaos Complex which is out of print and an edited version of Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (called Controlled)

Scare Factor: Low.
