The Channel Islands Film Company (UK)

Logo descriptions byWellmart3

Background: The Channel Islands Film Company (CIFC) was a company based in the Channel Islands that was founded in 1949. The company was high-budget. Their films were also included in that. Sadly, the company went bankrupt in 2006.

1st Logo
(1951-1969, 1978)

Logo: On a cloudy sky, we see a globe zooming (a la the 1987 MTE logo). However, it moves up and later, a square with the text:

...slowlyzooms in from the cloudy sky.

FX/SFX: Nice animation, even for the time.

Music/Sounds: A drumroll at first, then a piece of orchestral music. The re-appearance has a majestic fanfare, which is from the 3rd logo.

Availability: Rare. Seen on films by the company through the time. This also makes a re-appearance on the 1978 movieThe Unforgettable Sunday.

Scare Factor: Low to medium. The zooming and cloudy sky will gradually get to some. However, the music is nice and it appears to be more harmless if it doesn't affect you. This appearing onThe Unforgettable Sundaywill surprise those expecting the 3rd logo instead. Although this is a favorite of many. However, this is nothing compared to the next logo.

2nd Logo

Logo: On a black background, a line draws in. It appears to have copys that bend and come out. We then zoom into the line, and then it flashes to become the background. The text from before zooms in, but outlined with a trail.

FX/SFX: The animation...

Cheesy Factor: pretty cheap, while it gets dated before 1978.

Music/Sounds: A very dramatic, fast-paced, and bombastic fanfare.

Availability: Very rare. One of the remaining films with this logo is Out The Outlines.

Scare Factor: High, bordering on nightmare. The animation and music are very immediate, and will creep out a number of people, especially if you were expecting the previous logo and wind up with this.

3rd Logo

Logo: On a black background, we see a cube spinning around and zooming. One side of it has a clip of one of the movies, kinda depending on one. When we have zoomed into that, the movie already fills the background, but it flashes out and we go to the background again, then the text from the 1st logo is seen turning to face us, from dark to light.

Variant: A byline would be seen below, sometimes.

FX/SFX: Awesome and mind-blowing early CGI! It holds up very well, that it lived on.

Music/Sounds: A majestic fanfare, that makes this even better.

Availability: Common, due to it's long lifespan. Some of the remaining films with this are Abridged and The Creation Tower.

Scare Factor: Minimal. The flashing may bother you, even with some of the movies playing that you aren't fond of. However, this is a favorite of many.
