3rd Logo

Nickname: "The Windows Logo III"

Logo: We see a black BG with the text:

Starting Windows
Windows Pictures
© Microsoft Corporation

Painted in white, the footage film used in this logo was from the Windows7 startup, the red, green, blue and yellow dots appear going to make the "Windows" logo, and when the Windows logo is done, it shines.
  • There is a different logo on some films. The animation is mostly the same, but the text reads "Windows7 Pictures" under the logo. There is no shine at the end, instead, the logo dissolves into debris. The color dots look a bit different (and look better).
  • On Windows Vista films, the logo proceeds as normal (See above), but after the logo dissolves, it changes into the Windows Vista logo and the text "Windows Vista Pictures". "Starting Windows" and "© Microsoft Corporation" remain intact.
  • Sometimes, the background is white and the logo is a print logo and still.
  • There is a prototype variant of the logo, where it starts with the dots coming near to make the logo. Plus, the logo is drastically larger, filling up almost the entire screen. After the logo forms, it dissolves.
FX/SFX: The color dots creating the Windows logo, the logo shining.

  • Theme 1: The Turner Pictures music and sounds. On Windows Vista films, this tune is extended to fit in with the logo.
  • Theme 2: Four chords (sounding high-pitched), followed by a zap sound and finally an explosion sound.
  • Theme 3: A gurgling sound effect. This has only been spotted on films using the prototype logo.

Availability: Common, but not used anymore. Debuted on YouTube in 2007.

8th Logo

WindowsXP Pictures (2011, Part 1)
WindowsXP Pictures (2011, Part 2)
Logo: On a dark blue background, we see a grunge styled-WindowsXP logo zooming in. It fades out then we zoom out, revealing the background is a light blue stripe between two dark blue stripes and two gold bars between (similar to the WindowsXP startup and shutdown screens, but does not look quite like that). When the camera stops zooming the text:

appears over the light blue stripe, in black. Behind it is a transparent Windows logo.

Variant: A still variant can be seen on trailers.

FX/SFX: The logo and the camera zooming back.

Music/Sounds: None, but when the camera zooms back from us, the Windowsxp shutdown sound is heard. For the still variant, silent.

Availability: Current. Seen on The Games Movie which is made along with Mass Media Pictures, Disney Interactive Pictures and Activision Pictures and the logo is intact on the DVD release. Also on other Windows films.

Scare Factor: Low to high, the shutdown sound may not sit well with some.
